Title: How do I reset and charge my Flip video camera?

If you encounter a problem with the normal charging process of your Flip video camera, you can fix this by resetting and recharging it.  To do this, follow the steps below:

There are two methods in resetting your Flip video camera and both of them are applicable to Flip Mino, Flip MinoHD, MinoHD II, MinoHD III and Flip SlideHD only.

NOTE:  To reset your Flip Ultra, UltraHD, UltraHD II, or UltraHD III (with FlipPORT) video camera, leave the video camera powered OFF with the batteries removed for 60 seconds

i.    Resetting the Flip video camera using the Power button

Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds.  This is the fastest way to reset your Flip video camera.


ii.    Resetting the Flip video camera using the Reset button

Step 1:
Get a pin and insert it into the reset hole inside the video camera's tripod mount.

Step 2:
Press and hold the pin for five (5) seconds.

Step 3:
Remove the pin and hold the Power button for another five (5) seconds.

Any of the two methods should complete the reset process of your Flip video camera.

Recharging the Battery

There are two ways to recharge your Flip video camera’s battery:

i.    Using the Flip Power Adapter

When using a power adapter, charge your video camera for two (2) hours to ensure that the battery is completely charged before recording again.

NOTE:  The green led on the AC charger indicates that it is charging the battery.

ii.    Using the USB port on your computer

When charging using the USB port, connect the video camera’s USB arm to a high-powered USB port on your computer and leave it connected for three (3) hours to ensure the battery is completely charged.  Make sure that your computer is not on sleep mode when you do so.  To learn how to configure the sleep time of your computer, click here.

If you are using a laptop to recharge the video camera’s battery, make sure to connect it to a power outlet.

If your computer is on sleep mode, it will not provide enough power to its USB port.  The Flip video camera thinks it's a low-powered port and would display a Low-Power USB Battery in use, not charging message.

Charging your video camera when the battery is extremely low on power activates the Trickle Charge feature.  It may take 30-60 minutes before you could see any indication that the battery is charging.

NOTE:  If there is no activity after the 30 to 60-minute Trickle Charge mode or if your Flip video camera doesn’t power ON after resetting and recharging the battery, your Flip video camera's battery might be defective.  You may contact Flip Video Support for further assistance.
