Installation Errors and Solutions

If you are encountering any issues in installing FlipShare on your computer, you may perform the following troubleshooting steps:

1.  Your firewall software might interfere with the installation of the FlipShare software.  When you encounter this problem, disable your firewall software and reinstall FlipShare.  After the reinstallation, re-enable your firewall software and configure your firewall software and configure it to allow FlipShare to access the Internet for updates.  For more information on configuring your firewall, click here.

2.  If you are receiving a “FlipShare installation needs to be repaired” error message, your computer might have missing or corrupt components in its 3ivx Video Decoder software.  You may uninstall 3ivx Video Decoder and the FlipShare software and reinstall or download the latest version of FlipShare.  For the complete instructions to resolve this issue, click here.

NOTE:  This issue is common in older versions of FlipShare.  Recent versions of FlipShare utilize a different and updated MP4 codec developed by Cisco for improved performance.  It is recommended to upgrade to the latest software version.  To learn about the upgrade process, click here.

3.  If you are installing from the video camera and it does not recognize the device, it might be that you are not connecting the video camera to a USB 2.0 port.  Try plugging it into a different USB 2.0 port.  For more information on this issue, click here.

4.  If the FlipShare setup file does not run and install the FlipShare software on your computer, your computer may not be compatible with FlipShare.  To learn how to check if your computer is compatible with FlipShare, click here.  To check FlipShare’s minimum system requirements, click here.

5.  Once the video camera is plugged in to your computer, an AutoPlay window should automatically pop-up; otherwise, it’s possible that the AutoPlay setting of your computer is disabled.  If this happens, you can manually browse for the FlipShare setup file, or you can change the AutoPlay settings.  For instructions, click here.
